This is Changbaishan 长白山, or the Everwhite Mountain. Isn’t this stunning?
Really reminds me of a snow-white version of Mount Rinjani in Lombok. It’s actually not very high (2,799m), but is snow-capped all year round.
Jilin Province is far northeast of China. Changbaishan is one of the least visited places in China for one key reason – it’s only open to visitors from June to early September. The mountain actually straddles China and North Korea, which leaves alot to the imagination about how the people communicate in that region.
The only reason why I’m putting this out there for the world to know is for one reason:
So that more adventurous people will make an effort to visit and that would make a trip there a little more hospitable. Sometimes in China, a not-well-touristed place can mean more ridiculous charges.
I absolutely cannot wait to take a piece of this mountain home.

OMG OMG OMG…..this is where you’re heading???
Soooo jEAlous!
That’s it, i’m coming to visit next year, and we’re all going (again for you). It’ll be like Rinjani, Take 2.
Yes babe!! Aww you have to come.
We’re planning more trippies next year in Spring. 🙂 How about Inner mongolia for some rolling hills and horse milk? 🙂
