A sticky case of a shitty problem.

Our sick little puppy who's still a ball of energy

The last month has been pretty trying for Vincent and I.

One of our cats has come down with a bad case of diahrroea, for which the symptoms have still left 4 doctors clueless.

The strangest thing is that Tigros is still hyper-energetic. Nothing seems to ever get him down, despite him running to the toilet after he eats when he’s got the runs. He even conscientiously pours sand over his messy poo, cleans and rubs his paws furiously on the poo-pan. Almost to make sure we’re not inconvenienced.

The whole episode has been so frustrating because of the distances and logistical nightmare of trying to simply get a proper diagnosis.

Tigros freaking out in the cage, while sis hangs in there as his armchair.

i have to admit though, that I’ve smartened up since these doctor appointments:

1) Always do you research online first on what could be the problem.

2) Translate all the terms neccessary in Chinese – right down to the symptoms, medication. Diary everything, and write both the characters and pinyins just in case.

3) Photograph every possible evidence – medication, stool test result, stool, pee, behaviour.

Anyway, we took them back after a week of observation, and medication came in beautiful little packets with pills lovingly wrapped with fishy-taste!

And... hopp! Tigros loves anything he can eat, including medication. It's just amazing.
Cat-petizing medication!

The recovery mode has been shaky and we’re still not quite sure if we’ve got a handle on the problem with Tigros’ poopoo. Either it’s that we’ve been feeding him too much (he’s the Garfield type), or hat he’s just not getting acclimatised to China. On the other hand, his sister seems to be coping alot better.

Nevertheless, one thing we’ve also realised, is how much we love the cats. Perhaps it’s because we only have them as family since we got to China, but we know every claw, every kink and recognize their mooww from a mile away. We’ve grown so close to them that seeing them suffer is akin to having your own flesh and blood being in pain. It’s terrible.

Anyway, with Christmas just around the corner, all we want for Christmas – we gotta admit – are some really nice  chunks of healthy poo @@@!

  1. I TOTALLY empathise. Just had a trying four days agonising over the kiddo’s poo. Or the lack thereof. Thank god I’m not in China and having to explain everything in Mandarin! Hope the kitties are better.

  2. Hahah! Well I feel kinda that that mine’s a cat and yours is a real baby, but well, they’re our babies hey?
YOur daughter’s really cute man. I can see you guys are already doing wild things even with the bundle in toll. That’s really the way to go, i’d humbly say… :p
Anyway, happy Christmas to you guys! Hope all else is swingin’!
