We practically circumnavigated the globe in a month.

My very first time! (yup, no longer a lufthansa virgin...)

HOLA! HAPPY DRAGON YEAR!!

This is probably one of the longest stretch I’ve gone without putting up news on my blog. Sorry to those who were waiting for juicy news.

The juice is mainly that our luggages have been rather overworked over the past month…. And we just realised we’ve done a full circle around the globe!

Up in the air... a little more often than usual.

These are the distances (roughly)we’ve covered since Dec 23:

TIANJIN-SHANGHAI-TIANJIN = 2000km

TIANJIN-HARBIN-TIANJIN = 2000km

TIANJIN-BEIJING-SINGAPORE-BEIJING-TIANJIN = 10000+340 = 10340km

SINGAPORE-KRABI-SINGAPORE = 2000km

TIANJIN-BEIJING-MUNICH-GENEVA-FRANKFURT-BEIJING-TIANJIN = 170+19000+170 = 19340km (roughly…)

VINCENT’S DAILY TIANJIN-BEIJING-TIANJIN = 340×10 = 3400km

JUNICE’S DAILY TIANJIN-ECO-CITY-TIANJIN = 50×15 = 750km

TOTAL = 39,830KM

That’s roughly the distance to circumnavigate the Earth … Hoot hoot!!

Well, for the Nicolier-Yeo family, guess that’s not exactly unusual. That’s after all, been quite the story of our lives…

Say what you will after safety. Our life-saver in China has been the speed train.

One thing we realise more and more is that we’ve become so used to the pack-unpack-pack and all the work/school/laundry/cat-management/trainschedule logistics, we surprise even ourselves at the level of efficiency.

Vincent and I have, over time even honed a great skillset of no-talk-no-nonsense unpacking mode in order for us to arrive late in the night, and yet still function optimally at work the next day. We’re now even doing Personal Bests from the Time of Arrival to Hitting the Sack under an hour. Even our underwears are washed and hung. Good huh?  Heheh.

Strangely enough though, there is always 1 item which I manage to forget time and time again.

This occurrence has withstood even Vincent’s constant (and loving…) reminders, and they’re indispensable after my passport : My visual aids.

My visul aids = the essentials i seem to keep losing sight of while packing.

If it isn’t my contact lens solution, it’s the case. If itsn’t the case, it’s my glasses. I somehow manage to always forget one of them.

And this has sent Vincent running around different towns in the middle of the night looking for solutions, pun intended. Once we were so desperate we used bottle caps as holders to get through the night. As I said before, desperation begs creativity!

Anyway, this has very nicely kicked off 2012.

After the dust settles, it’s time to get the whip crackin’ and our engines revin’ up again. The outlook this year is particularly bleak for most, but I’m looking forward to the little bright spots and silver linings along the way.

At least in darker days they always appear brighter… assuming I haven’t again forgotten my visual aids…
