Little Roots in China was borne out of inspiration. Coming back to China to live a third time was a reaffirmation to myself that this is such an incredible country to write about. I know not everyone identifies with my perception about the country, after all – China is notorious for being uncouth, uncaring, and unclean. But for those who have lived here for a while, you will find beauty in the most unexpected of places. I have never felt more alive, more inspired than being here in China, where everyday is a geography lesson coming to life.
This blog is an extension of my previous one – justjunice, a space where I wrote about snapshots of my life in my 30S. Given that the number of posts I had about China vs my personal life was 10:1 pretty much gave me reason to start a dedicated space where I document China properly.
The stuff I intend to cover here revolve around my observations as a mother of two, bringing up my kids in China. In many ways, it is a whole new universe to us – language aside, the climate, the culture, the way of life, and the pace of progress is so different, yet in many ways so familiar to us. Also because of my own occupation, I write about sustainable development in China, and the rest of the world.
So allow me this space to express our views and thoughts. Comments and feedback are welcome of course!
